چکیده
a r t i c l e i n f o a b s t r a c t We present fast methods to describe the surface evolution of large three-dimensional structures. Based on the sparse field level set method and the hierarchical run-length encoding level set data structure optimal figures for the computation time and for the memory consumption are achieved. Furthermore, we introduce a new multi-level-set technique, which is able to incorporate multiple material regions, and which can also handle material specific surface speeds accurately. We also describe an optimal algorithm for the visibility check for unidirectional etching. The presented techniques are demonstrated on various examples.

Design of a Novel Framework to Control Nonlinear Affine Systems Based on Fast Terminal Sliding-Mode Controller
In this paper, a novel approach for finite-time stabilization of uncertain affine systems is proposed. In the proposed approach, a fast terminal sliding mode (FTSM) controller is designed, based on the input-output feedback linearization of the nonlinear system with considering its internal dynamics. One of the main advantages of the proposed approach is that only the outputs and external state...
متن کاملA new conforming mesh generator for three-dimensional discrete fracture networks
Nowadays, numerical modelings play a key role in analyzing hydraulic problems in fractured rock media. The discrete fracture network model is one of the most used numerical models to simulate the geometrical structure of a rock-mass. In such media, discontinuities are considered as discrete paths for fluid flow through the rock-mass while its matrix is assumed impermeable. There are two main pa...
متن کاملA method for simulating Atomic Force Microscope nanolithography in the Level Set framework
During the last decades it has been shown that the Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) can be used in noncontact mode as an efficient lithographic technique capable of manufacturing nanometer sized devices on the surface of a silicon wafer. The AFM nanooxidation approach is based on generating a potential difference between a cantilever needle tip and a silicon wafer. A water meniscus builds up betwe...
متن کاملThree-dimensional shoaling of large-amplitude internal waves
[1] The three-dimensional (3-D) shoaling of large-amplitude internal waves (LAIW) is studied in the framework of a fully nonlinear nonhydrostatic numerical model. The vertical fluid stratification, parameters of the propagating waves and bottom topography were taken close to those observed in the northern part of the Andaman Sea. It was found that three-dimensional evolution of LAIWs propagatin...
متن کاملA Case Study in Predictive Three-Dimensional Topography Simulation Based on a Level-Set Algorithm
The aim of this work is to study the etching of trenches in silicon and the generation of voids during the filling of genuinely three-dimensional trench structures with silicon dioxide or nitride. The trenches studied are part of the manufacturing process of power MOSFETs, where void-less filling must be achieved. Another area of applications is capacitance extraction in interconnect structures...
